Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy

Occupational and Physiotherapists help people regain skills lost due to injury or circumstances like a stroke. They help you maintain the skills needed and decrease the limitations of daily living. They can recommend adaptive equipment and training and help determine individualized goals.

Physiotherapy Services at Family Health Team

The physiotherapy role at the Family Health Team continues to evolve as the need for different services arises. Currently, we offer Chronic Pain and Arthritis Workshops as well as Total Contact Casting and offloading for diabetic foot ulcers in collaboration with Occupational Therapists.

Hip and knee pre-op education classes will also be held at the Family Health Team. This includes education and exercises to prepare for your surgery, what to expect during your hospital stay and your rehab journey once you are discharged from the hospital.

We have started a new "Triage" program that consists of a one-time assessment and treatment followed by a phone call one month later for our non-urgent clients. The goal behind this is to provide clients with a home exercise program to start while they are on our wait-list. This program is ran by the Dryden Regional Health Center's Physiotherapy Department and eligibility will be based on priority ratings when a referral is received in physiotherapy from a physician or nurse practitioner.

Occupational Therapist

Susan graduated with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in 2011; and Under Grad with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Lakehead University in 2009.

Areas of expertise: Home safety assessments, seating mobility assessments, cognitive and safe-driver screening, fall risk screening/prevention, smoking cessation, chronic pain self-management, and stroke prevention services.

Susan has been employed with the Dryden Regional Health Centre since 2012 and in the Dryden Area Family Health Team since 2015.
